Best practice
If you wish to have the scan run on the schedule. Best
practice is to install
Perfect Network Antispy on a
server that is not turned off each day. Create the scan jobs and add them to the
Perfect Network Antispy schedule.

The Perfect Network Antispy schedule
If Perfect network antispy is configured to run scheduled scan
jobs then do not log off the host. Just press Ctrl-alt-del and choose to "lock
computer".
If you log off the schedule will not run.
If scheduled scan jobs is not required, Perfect Network
Antispy can be installed on any windows 2000/XP/2003 host in your network. When
installed on a host, scan jobs can be created and started Manual.

Creating a Scan job
First click on the menu Item "New Scan Job"
Press ok in the message box.
Then we will have to add a few host to scan.
Choose "Add Hosts" to browse the windows network for host to you wish to scan.
To manually type an NetBIOS name or IP adresse then choose "Add host" and
finally choose "Add IP range" to add a Range of IP's to scan.

Adding hosts
When finished adding hosts to the scan job you can configure
which user that should be used
to connect to the hosts. Each host can be configured to have its "own" user and
password. If the current user logged in, is a administrator of the network you
properly does not need to choose an alternative user.
You can choose to use a user from a domain by
entering a user name like this : "Domainname"\"Username".
Ex. VelociDomain\Admin
In the Logon dialog the Option "Use Currently logged on user when..." is
selected by default when adding a new host.
When finished configuring which host to scan and set the
Logon credentials for each host, if needed. You are ready to configure the
global settings of the job.
Global configuration :

"Scan running Processes" : Will Scan all process
currently active on a host.
"Scan Modules" : Will Scan all Loaded DLL and OCX.
"Ping Host" : This will ping the host before trying to connect, to
minimize scan time. If your host does not answer to ping, uncheck this.
"Timeout" : This value is used to handle hosts that does not answer in
timely fashion. If timeout is reached perfect Network Scan will automatically
disconnect from the host. Set the timeout to 2-3 minutes if the some of the host
you are scanning is very slow or is slow due heavy workloads.
Custom Object list :
If the scan should detect Custom specified running Processes it can be
configured in this box. Also the scan job can detect if processes is not
running on a host. This can be useful if a user want to know if a certain
process like a Antispyware Shield/Program is not running or has been stopped for
some reason etc.
When all global setting has been configured save the job by
choosing the menu item "Save scan job".
When the job has been saved the button in the bottom called " Add this job to
schedule" becomes active. If the Button is pressed the job will be added to the
schedule that can be configured to run each day automatically. Look in "Best
practice" in this document for info on scheduling.
You do not need to press this button to run the scan job.
Press "Start Network Scan" and you new scan job will start. When finished the
Scan result will appear and you can manage the scan result from there.
Try different global configurations for best result in your
network. Also examine the scan result.
The "Host connection errors" list in the bottum leftcan tell you if you need to
configure an other user when connecting to a host. The error message will be
listed as "Access deneid". A lot of other messages can be view in this list like
Timeout's and "No answer to ping" etc.

Troubleshooting
Connection problems :
Always make sure that the host/computer your are trying to connect to has WMI
installed and of course is present on your network.
Make sure you are using a user that has sufficient rights on the host. Best
choice is to use a Administartor account or a user that is member of
administrators group.
Make sure the host accepts remote procedure calls.

In host name box, both IP's (ex. 10.0.0.1) and computer netbios names are
acceptable.
In the User Name Box you can use following syntax Domain\username or just
username.
If you are logged on the local computer with a domain/Workgroup administrator
account you can leave the User name and Password box empty.
